About Cookies & Pop-up Stoppers

If you are having problems completing your online registration form, it might be due to your settings for enabling cookies. Also, since we use a pop-up to display additional "more info" data about seminars, you must disable your firewall pop-up stopper and any stand-alone pop-up stoppers during your application session if you wish to see this additional data.  Completing registration will be unaffected by your pop-up blockers, but your browser's acceptance of cookies is essential to complete the registration process.
Follow the instructions below.

We use session cookies to allow for the repopulation of your Registration form when an applicant proceeds though different registration segments. The information you fill out in a form is the only data that is stored on a cookie in your computer. The cookie expires in 30 days. If you do not enable cookies, certain portions of our form, as well as the repopulation function of the forms will not work which means you will have to fill out the RSVP form each time you register multiple attendees, or you may be prevented from completing the registration process entirely, in which case we recommend faxing your registration using the fax form found when you click the "Register By Fax" button on the registration page.

We've provided instructions for enabling cookies in popular browsers.

Disabling Firewall Pop-up Stoppers
Many firewalls have pop-up stoppers built into them. When you click the "more info" link associated with each seminar, a window pops up with more details about each seminar. Please disable any firewall pop up stoppers you have running on your computer during your application process. This is only important if you want more information about each seminar. If your firewall is running you might be prevented from seeing the output page, and therefore will be unable to view this additional information.  You may also view specifics about each seminar by going to the respective event show page and click the "Seminars" button.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DISABLE YOUR WINDOWS XP FIREWALL.

Disabling Stand-Alone Pop-up Stoppers
Pop-up stoppers, which might be included in your personal firewall, also come as stand alone products. If you have any third party pop-up stoppers running on your computer, please disable your pop-up stoppers before trying to read additional information about the seminars.

Disabling pop-up blockers can be helpful when pop-up blockers are preventing the display of legitimate pop-up windows such as windows used with Blackboard chat or confirmation pages generated from forms.

Disabling the Windows XP Pop-up Stopper (Service Pack 2 Only)

Microsoft has its own Pop-up Stopper as a part of Windows XP (Service Pack 2), which is accessible via Internet Explorer's Internet Options' Privacy section.

The three methods for disabling the pop-up blocker are:

  1. Method A: Disabling through the Control Panel- for users with administrative privileges on an individual machine not remotely or collectively managed.

  2. Method B : Disabling through Local Policy-for IT administrators use on managed systems.
  3. Method C: Disabling through Group Policy for IT administrators use on managed systems.

Method A: Disabling Through the Control Panel/Internet Explorer

If you have administrative access to unmanaged systems such as: home, RESNET, campus unmanaged system, and self-managed, complete the following steps to disable the pop-up blocker:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Select Internet Options... from the Tools menu.
  3. Click the Privacy tab.
  4. Click to clear the Block pop-ups box.
  5. Click OK or Apply.
